Synopsis:
In the lead up to the full-length classical ballet in March, SDT presents this hour-long special created especially for the young ones. Join the main characters Dr. Coppélius, Franz and Swanhilda on their adventures and experience the magic of classical ballet through dance excerpts, while learning fun facts about Coppélia and pantomime from our narrator.
Originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon and based on the story by E.T.A Hoffman, Coppélia tells the story of the misadventures of a boy named Franz, who falls in love with a gorgeous life-sized doll named Coppélia. Unknowingly, he becomes embroiled in the wrath of his jealous girlfriend, Swanhilda, and the hilarious delusions of Dr. Coppélius, the mysterious Toymaker.
