Rainbow Fish, Come Play With Us!
Based on The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister
4, 6, 13, 18 and 20 June 2015 10.30am to 12pm
For 2 year olds with parent
In this unique parent and child workshop, the magic of play and imagination will come alive as all will and dramatise the story with one’s body and voice. Go on a journey into the deep blue sea with a beautiful but proud Rainbow Fish who, with the help of an octopus, overcomes loneliness and learns the value of friendship only after he shares his colourful scales with the rest of the fish.
It’s Bedtime, Little Dino!
Based on How do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? by Jane Yolen
2 to 6 June; 8 to 12 June; 15 to 19 June; 22 to 26 June;
20 to 24 July; 27 to 31 July 2015
For 3 to 4 year olds
Filled with humour, rhyming prose and quirky characters – 11 child dinosaurs to be exact – this five-day workshop will focus largely on facial and vocal expression, as well as role playing. It will also provide the very young with an opportunity to be as ‘big’ as they like with dramatic actions that these creatures make.
Buzz Off Mozzie!
Based on Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears by Verna Aardema
2 to 6 June; 8 to 12 June; 15 to 19 June; 22 to 26 June;
20 to 24 July; 27 to 31 July 2015
For 5 to 7 year olds
The mystery as to why mosquitoes buzz in one’s ear may be solved in this workshop! The
key theme of ‘cause and effect’ is emphasised with much humour in this cumulative tale
based on an African legend. Children will have a blast role-playing the different animals so
vividly portrayed in this tale.
Lost
Based on Lord of the Flies by William Golding
2 to 6 June; 8 to 12 June; 15 to 19 June;
22 to 26 June; 20 to 24 July
For 8 to 10 year olds
Full of tension and dramatic moments, this piece is based on the classic tale of dystopia. Children will learn key character-transformation skills such as vocalisation and physicalisation, as well as teamwork and how to express themselves confidently
To Be Or Not To Be?
Based on Hamlet by William Shakespeare
8 to 13 June; 15 to 19 June; 22 to 27 June; 27 July to 1 August
For teens
A futuristic take on the ‘state of Denmark’, this adaptation will turn the concept of ‘social media’ on its head as it explores three dramatic techniques – the monologue, dialogue and polylogue – the last being a form of communicating with a group of unknowns, much like social media platforms such as twitter and Instagram.
