Long admired for its beauty, the Chrysanthemum is a symbolic feature in traditional Chinese art to depict the autumn season. Marvel at unusual varieties such as Spider Chrysanthemums and Disbud Chrysanthemums first cultivated in ancient China and Japan. As you stroll through the scenic landscape dotted with Chinese lanterns and a teahouse, take time to appreciate the special displays of Chrysanthemum that have been meticulously trained to produce multiple large blooms on a single plant. "Celebration of Chrysanthemums" is the fifth of six chapters in Gardens by the Bay's storytelling journey in 2015. This enchanting series of floral displays for the year will draw visitors into the magical world of folklore, legends, fairy tales and nursery rhymes as told through the language of plants.

Adorned with the thematic lantern flower displays and shining with perfectly hand-crafted lanterns in the Flower Dome, Outdoor Gardens and The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay brings families and kids into a truly magical journey to mark this year's Mid-Autumn (Lantern) Festival in Singapore

The new Mid-Autumn themed floral display in the Flower Dome features three striking dragonfly lanterns perched amidst a field of vibrant flora such as "lantern flowers" like Begonias and autumn-blooms like Chrysanthemums, Astilbes and Celosias, while Chinese lanterns add to the festive ambience and traditional paper cut-outs illustrate the myths and legends behind this festival.

Not just this, the entire garden was sparkling with kids and families carrying lanterns all around when Super Mommies & Daddies visited the gardens last night. It was an absolutely fascinating display of Chinese traditions, arts and culture!
