The Plastic Ocean by Tony Rice, Australia
6 to 12 December 2013
10:30am to 12:30pm, 4pm to 6pm
ION Art Gallery, ION Orchard, Level 4
For 4 to 12 year olds
Practicing artist, potter and kite maker for more than 30 years, Tony Rice recently embarked on his cause to spread the message of the harmful consequences on marine life as a result of the indiscriminate use of plastics with this insightful public program which pairs visual arts with environmental concerns. Through this alternative inventive learning platform, the presenters – ACT 3 International hopes to engage children on a deeper level by drawing their attention to more macro issues such as marine conservation, imploring them to consider the effects of our actions and learning that everyone has a part to play to help.
Children will delve into the wondrous realm of the seas as they enter the ION art gallery which will be transformed little by little by the children themselves as they will be making art pieces that will contribute to the finale collaborative showcase.
