October 2015
Of Crocodiles and Gorillas, For 3 year olds
Based on his side-splitting poems – The Crocodile’s Toothache and
Gorilla – children will be introduced to these animals while learning
the art of storytelling, dramatising, speaking in rhymes and learning
new vocabulary.
Ready… ACTion!, For 4 to 7 year olds
Based on What’s in the Sack? and Hungry Mungry, this workshop will
encourage children to learn and experience words through movement and
action. Key techniques learnt will be loosening up the body and
translating words into actions.
Sidewalk Show, For 8 to 12 year olds
Just how much drama can one create in a minute? Inspired by Where the
Side Ends, this workshop will encourage children to think out of the box
as they create their very own mini ‘oneminute acts’. The body, voice and imagination will be put to the challenge!

A fun-filled session of movement and painting galore as both parent and child discover the art of dramatising together. It is inspired by Ellen Stoll Walsh’s Mouse Paint about three adorable albino mice and their antics with paint.
This week long workshop based on the classic tale by The Brothers Grimm will build confidence, spark an imaginative mind and improve speaking skills.
The Nutcracker, 5 to 7 year olds

Christmas Past, Present and Future – A Pantomime

A classic theatrical form, the pantomime requires special techniques of miming and movement and plenty of physicality on stage.
In this adaptation inspired by Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, children will have a riot of a time exploring the life of famous old miser Ebenezer Scrooge!

Play-Doh Workshop and Demonstration
There will be workshops held at Toys’R’Us Vivo City and Tampines Mall from 4 – 13 September, from 12 – 9pm. GOAT AN IDEA HOW TO DECORATE A LANTERN?
In celebration of the year of the goat, and in commemoration of the
Mid-Autumn season, lanterns shaped like goats wait to be decorated in
Gardens by the Bay’s Lantern Painting Competition. The competition,
which is sponsored by Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, is part of
Mid-Autumn Festival @ Gardens by the Bay 2015. The public can sign up in teams with a minimum of four people and a
maximum of eight people. Each team will decorate one goat-shaped
lantern, measuring 1m by 1m, according to the preferred theme – SG50 or
Mid-Autumn.
Participants can choose from two time slots, 9am to 12pm, or 2pm to 5pm,
to be present at Gardens by the Bay on either September 19 or September
20 to decorate their lanterns. Paint materials will be provided by
Gardens by the Bay.
The best decorated lantern stands to win a cash prize of $2,000, while
the second and third prize winners will win $1,000 and $500

expressiveness and articulation as he or she explores the wonders of facial expression, body
language and voice.

The event is designed specifically for 4-6-year-olds, where they will introduced to Phonics in a fun, outdoor setting. The session will include 1-hour taster class where students will get a feel of Phonics being taught the Jan & Elly way. It is a great opportunity for parents to get a try-before-you-commit experience to see if their child takes to the style of learning.
While all this is going on, parents are invited to attend a special talk, on the topic "How to make the most out of a preschool reading programme" - a topic many parents have been asking for.

River Safari will host River Games from 6 to 28 June and visitors can look forward to non-stop fun with animal-themed challenges, live game shows, up-close animal encounters, and unbeatable discounts on park admission.
Held on weekends, River Games offer brain-teasers for young minds as they play animal heroes, from saving drowning giant otter babies to helping crocodiles navigate through a maze to find their partners. Those hungry for more competition can participate in twice-daily game shows that test their wits on animal facts.
