Review: The Ant and the Grasshopper, Till 15th March 2014, Singapore

The Ant and The Grasshopper
Till 15 March 2014
For 3 to 12 years old and families
Venue: Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel

Review:

The show was simple yet Informative and promoted learning with fun and Interaction.

It's musical and all cute characters especially the two bees, a grasshopper, an ant and a caterpillar make it really funny for the kids. Short but disco appearance of the lady bird sparked the crowd to have some fun with music and lights. We also liked the way they involved the kids in trying out simple physical exercises and shared benefits of the same. The moral of the story revolved around importance of hard work and preparedness for the future which is known to come.

The ant was hardworking and well prepared for winters while the grasshopper was found as her complete opposite. The puppetry appearance of caterpillar also gelled well with the show. Last but not the least, families and kids can also take photos with the cast.

Overall, the setup and costumes were good. Rating: 8.5/10

Synopsis...
Once there lived three friends. An Ant - who never seemed to have time for play or relaxation. A Grasshopper, with nothing to do all day. And Caterpillar. All day long Ant would work hard, collecting and storing food in her larder. Grasshopper would laugh, and say. 'Why do you work so hard? Come, and rest awhile. Summer is here; why waste the sunshine in labour and toil?'

Whilst Caterpillar calmly carried on, doing what caterpillars do best... But Summer does not last long – and soon Winter and the frozen cold will come... What will happen to the three friends then?

A fast-paced and interactive musical, full of fun. Based on the famous Aesop’s Fable - with colourful characters, puppets and tuneful, catchy songs. Specially created with the younger audience in mind, but with unexpected twists and turns to keep even the grownups engaged, involved and on their toes!

Review: Grimm's Fairy Tales, 1 to 17 November 2013

Review:

Grimm's Fairy Tales, a musical, fun and an inspirational approach to producing magical words of wisdom through the world of story telling. From the simple messages of hunger, poverty, fear of abandonment and survival through Hensel & Gretel to a sense of hope for Rapunzel to an act of self-confidence & bravery by The Valient Little Tailor, this production beautifully covers nine classic short moral stories through a 90 min performance based on songs, music, sounds, masks, puppets and humour with an extra 15 min interval in between. Teemed with beasts, heroes, princesses, villains and mysteries, it's a theatre production NOT TO BE MISSED!

Overall, the stage, lighting, production and especially the cast with those cute characters and masks such as of Wolf, Donkey, Cat, Rooster, Fox, Dog, Sparrow and Goose are fantastic. However, we do feel that it might have created even more impact if there were 4 - 5 stories covered in total especially for the young kids to remember all this.

Stories covered are:
1. The Musicians of Bremen
2. The Valiant Little Tailor
3. The Turnip
4. Rumpelstiltskin
5. The Fox and The Geese
6. Little Red Cap
7. Rapunzel
8. Lucky Hans
9. Hansel and Gretel

I Theatre: ACE 2012 : Plays for kids (3-15 years old)

We were at one of our regular but exciting kids play-dates yesterday :) and one of my friends (thanks to her-:)) mentioned about this itheatre organization, which is supposedly one of the region’s premiere Professional producing companies for family orientated theatre. They create an average of four brand new theatre productions a year and aim to produce theatre experiences that will be as accessible and challenging, funny and thought provoking to an adult as to a child.
