Coppélia - A Classical Ballet by Singapore Dance Theatre

Singapore Dance Theater’s Silver Anniversary Season begins with a vibrant visual spectacle as the company brings to life the charming classical ballet, Coppélia, the girl with enamel eyes.

This light-hearted three-act ballet is based on the book by Charles Nuitter, after E.T.A. Hoffman's "Der Sandmann" which tells the humorous tale of love, mistaken identity and a beautiful doll.

14 & 15 March8pm
16 March1pm, 8pm
17 March1pm, 7pm

Venue: Esplanade Theatre

A young village couple, Franz and Swanilda, are engaged, but their love undergoes a test when Franz becomes infatuated with Coppélia, a life-like doll belonging to the mysterious toymaker, Dr Coppélius. Unaware of each other’s plans, both Franz and Swanilda sneak into the toymaker’s house to discover the truth behind the beautiful doll… Witness the magical moment when Coppélia “comes alive”!

Featuring a new staging by Artistic Director Janek Schergen with choreography by Arthur Saint-Léon and music by Leo Delibes, Coppélia is one of ballet's most celebrated comedies. A treat for the family, let the dance and drama sweep you away as the delightful story unfolds.
