LEGOLAND Water Park, Malaysia!

Asia’s first LEGOLAND Water Park promises families yet another exciting adventure as it opens to public officially earlier this month. The opening of the Water Park also lead into the transformation of LEGOLAND Malaysia into a Resort.

The Water Park contains over 3 million litres of water and has more than 20 unique water based rides. There are also over 70 specially built LEGO models. It is the largest LEGOLAND Water Park in the world and the only one which can be enjoyed either on its own as a stand-alone attraction or in combination with the Theme Park.



Tickets for LEGOLAND Water Park are already available for sale and the combo tickets are ideal for families as it provides savings of more than 25% compared to purchasing individual Park tickets.

CREATIVE WRITING
A 5-day programme sampler for children who want to experience just how we instill that knack for writing. Children will be mastering basic techniques through meaningful games and applying them in their compositions! 

COMPREHENSION
It is no surprise that comprehension is a struggle for many. Learning how to make annotations is very useful as it compels a student to slow down and UNDERSTAND the passage better. This 3-day workshop will guide students to heighten their thinking process. We will assist to break down the wall of confusion.  They will learn the importance of forming CONNECTIONS between ideas in different paragraphs. IMPORTANTLY, children will know the difference between literal and inferential questions.  

GRAMMAR
The Writer's Place has simplified and made grammar FUSS-FREE. Children will be made aware of some common grammatical errors which they aren't even aware of! Elementary level is catered to young learners who are not able to identify and apply parts of a speech. Intermediate level is catered for students who have a good grasp of basic grammar and are looking to form COMPLEX and MATURE sentences. 

PUBLIC SPEAKING
Learn the secrets of conquering your child's fear of speaking to different types of audiences. Public speaking commonly refers to addressing a large crowd. However, it can also mean COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY with classmates especially in group work or captivating your audience during a class presentation. 

SPEECH AND DRAMA

FROM JURONG BIRD PARK’S 
PENGUIN PLAYLAND
Jurong Bird Park’s Birdz of Play has been transformed into Penguin Playland, and all children are invited to join in the Penguin Party there! 

What’s more, little ones can experience what it is like to be a Junior Wildlife Reporter and hone their observation and writing skills. They will receive their very own media pass and the ‘Penguin Times’  newsletter activity sheet as they go about exploring the Park. 

The keepers will rope in the help of visiting children to feed the penguins, and a 30-minute Penguin-razzi Meet-and-Greet will be held so children will learn more about these graceful birds. What’s more, this holidays, the exclusive promotion ‘Kids Come In Free’, will entitle all kids to free admission* when accompanied by a paying adult. This offer will be available throughout the school holidays, and complements the host of egg-citing activities lined up for young ones.

The party will be rollicking good fun, with costumes like a magician’s cloak, clown wig, giant glasses and an oversized musician’s tailcoat.

Junior Wildlife Reporters need some expert knowledge in the subject matter, and the Penguin-razzi Meet-and-Greet will provide novice reporters with the information they need. A special 15 minute treat is in store for all participants after that – Kids will get up close to Chocolate the celebrity African penguin!

Each session is limited to a maximum of 30 kids, and on-site registration closes 5 minutes before each session.

A LESSON IN CREATIVE WRITING IN SINGAPORE ZOO’S LIVING CLASSROOM

Calling all parents! Head down to Singapore Zoo with your child for a special treat and learn how to be wildly creative when writing stories. 


The programme marks the first collaboration between Wildlife Reserves Singapore and the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language to promote the park as a venue for learning Chinese, in conjunction with the National Story Writing Competition 2013.

Listen to interesting stories about animal personalities such as Ah Meng, the celebrity orang utan; Omar, the white tiger; Anusha, the elephant matriarch and other well-loved zoo personalities. 

Enjoy an exclusive guided tour around the Zoo, go for a wild hunt and grab the rare opportunity to pick up tips from Dr Tan Chee Lay, Deputy Executive Director, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language to help your child to write creatively. Presentations are conducted in English and Chinese.  

As part of the programme, parent and child teams are encouraged to create a picture story together. Every submission on the day of the event will be entitled to a gift pack.

Students and individuals interested in picking up tips on creative writing are also welcome.

Deepavali Celebrations at 
Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay will see the Flower Dome transformed into a colourful floral tapestry as they celebrate Deepavali – the Festival of Lights!

Inspired by the traditional Indian decorative art kolam, the Deepavali themed floral display features Indian fabric lanterns sitting on a bed of vivid purple and orange flora, made up of flowers like Amaranths, Cone Flowers and Cockscombs, while lamps and carved wooden elephants add to the festive ambience.  

This kaleidoscopic display of tradition, colours and lights will bring a befitting close to the “Celebrations!” series of floral displays at the Gardens.

In celebration of Deepavali, there will also be a 15% discount on admission tickets to the conservatories from 1 to 3 November 2013.


On 2 and 3 November, go on a journey of discovery at the Gardens with You Light Up My Life, a themed activity to educate about the significance of Deepavali, where visitors can try their hand at decorating little lamps specially for the occasion.
