Nickelodeon Slime Cup, 20-21 July 2013, Downtown East, Singapore

REVIEW!

Nickelodeon Slime Cup (For 7-14 years old)
20 - 21 July 2013 (Time: 11am to 7pm)
D'Marquee at Downtown East
Admission is free

What a perfect way to start a family day out and weekend fun at Nickelodeon Slime Cup at D’Marquee, Downtown East this morning. Launched in Singapore and SEA, the event promoted an indoor healthy and fun lifestyle for kids and families. It started off with the official kick-off ceremony and soccer fun followed by the exciting arrival of everyone's favorite Nickelodeon characters including SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Dora, Diego, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Singapore's famous footballers including Isa Halim at the futsal. There were also Meet & Greet sessions with various Nick-stars scheduled for the day.
During the opening ceremony, SpongeBob's best friend Patrick Star made a smiley and starry appearance along with the famous SpongeBob SquarePants at the Nick Kicks booth.

With the Nickelodeon scorecard in hand and lots of challenges ahead, we started our thrilling futsal experience from the Fandi Ahmad Academy's soccer clinic where kids had a great time kicking many goals in a row and learning football with fun. We were also thrilled about collecting stamps to redeem exciting prizes in the end.

Then, we visited the Explorer Kid booth offering art & craft activities for the kids and from there we made our way to an even exciting challenge called the Dribble Mania to practice our dribbling skills through the cones.
There were not only soccer-based activities but also a Baseball Challenge with floating baseball and batting to hit the target. It was also our first-ever experience of such a kind.

While we were overjoyed by the sporty fun, Dora and Diego's appearance along with the famous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob and Patrick filled even more energy and happiness in our little ones! It was really heartening to see the young ones with those glittering smiles! The smiles, which really fill your heart with happiness and make you feel much proud as parents!

                                                (A)

(B)
The excitement didn't end here, we were also lucky to see Singapore's famous footballers called Isa Halim, Aide Iskandar, Hariss Harun, Lionel Lewis and Paul Cunningham and others on the field for a friendly futsal match.

(C)

(D)
After the match, we took The Great Obstacle Challenge and experienced the rare Slimey Dunking before moving on to the Sports Arena Challenge.

(E)
Not just this, we also enjoyed the free Popcorns and Cotton Candy on our way to redeem prizes by showing the stamps collected at various booths on the scorecard

We thought that the fun would end here after stepping out of the D’Marquee but no it didn't. We got another chance for a meet & greet session/photo-taking with SpongeBob and Patrick outside of it too! Kids were also posed interesting questions to win prizes.

Though we were overloaded with goodies, achievements and excitement, we didn't miss our favourite happy meal at McDonald's located next to it!

The event is still on until 7pm tomorrow i.e. Sunday, 21st July 2013. Above all, the entrance is FREE!

Ballet Under the Stars by Singapore Dance Theatre, July 2013, Singapore

Reminder!

Super Mommies & Daddies are going too!!! See you there!

Immerse yourself in the perfect evening at Singapore Dance Theatre’s (SDT) 18th Edition of the annual Ballet Under the Stars. From 19 – 21 July, SDT will perform a dazzling showcase of contemporary dance works, featuring guest artists from Expressions Dance Company (Australia) as well as stunning pieces from the Company’s repertoire. From 26 – 28 July, SDT will revive the heart-wrenching romantic tale of Giselle, one of ballet’s most famous tragedies.

Absence of Story by Toru Shimazaki
19 – 21 July 2013, Fort Canning Green, 7.30pm
Gates open from 5pm for picnic, Pre-show performances start from 6.30pm onwards

Toru’s initial concept for this piece was to create a visual array of movements to accompany the music of Brahms. This particular piece of music is so powerful that he simply wanted to react honestly to it. Absence of Story is danced to the music of Brahms, and is a stirring piece without story or words in hope of not causing distraction to the beauty and the power of music. Toru Shimazaki is the chief professor of the dance department at Kobe College and has created works for many international companies including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Royal Flanders Ballet, Polish Dance Theatre, Colorado Ballet, Grand Theatre de Geneve and Introdans.

Giselle
26 – 28 July, Fort Canning Green, 7.30pm
Gates open from 6pm for picnic

This breathtaking ballet tells of the love story between a village maiden, Giselle, and a nobleman, Albrecht. Mesmerized by her beauty and innocence, Albrecht disguises himself as a peasant and promises eternal love to Giselle despite being betrothed to a Duke's daughter, Bathilde. Soon after, she discovers his deceit, and driven by grief, she kills herself with Albrecht's sword.

With love unrequited, she dies of a broken heart, much to the dismay of Albrecht who has only come to realize his true love for Giselle when he mourns for her at the tomb. In Giselle's melancholic world of vengeance and despair, she transforms from an innocent lady to a wilis, who are spirits of betrothed maidens betrayed by their beloved loves on the night before their wedding.

Free Admission for children below the age of 4 years old.
